Alaskena is a Pre-K to 9 grade learning center with approximately 200 learners and was established in 2012.
Cheseto’s vision is to have a well equipped school in the most remote part of Kenya with modern library, computer lab, and a sports center to help young girls and boys nurture their talents. Having studied in Kenya and United States, Marko realized the power of giving people an opportunity to showcase their ability. Education is the best equalizer. With this project, Cheseto aims to reduce retrogressive practices like the female genital mutilation and gender inequality in his village.
Alaskena is still on a process of upgrading its infrastructure, you can be part of our support group by helping in the best way you can. You can adopt a student and help cover his/her school fees we charge to pay for the teaching staff and food.
From previous donations, from partners like Spartan Race, Cheseto has completed construction of modern classrooms which are currently in use. We are now building two dormitories, a computer lab and three more classrooms. You can make your donation through our secure portal.
Recently, Project Trinitē, a non profit organization based in Plymouth Massachusetts launched a digital center within the Alaskena school compound. The project aims at connecting rural community around the world to educate, employ and empower. for more information about project trinity click here.
